Summer Highlights
As I gear up and start planning for 2025, I took the time to review my notes and reflect on everything I accomplished in year one. 2024 was a year of learning, but also a year of celebration. I had no idea how successful it would be in a variety of ways, and I’m looking forward to celebrating what I’ve learned and will accomplish in 2025!
4 Weddings! 2024 brought 4 amazing weddings my way. From creating my first arch, to designing an all white floral display, to pushing myself to design a more modern aesthetic, my couples that partnered with me for their wedding flowers were amazing! Weddings are a huge part of my business and something I love to focus on. I also had a few ad hoc design requests that weren’t necessarily for a wedding but for special events. I love designing and want to continue to expand this part of my business.
Hundreds of mixed bouquets sold! I was definitely slinging tons of mixed bouquets for my farmers market and grocery store outlets. I learned to design a quick, but lush mixed bouquet that features some of my favorite flowers. I also learned how colors make or break a bouquet design, which has really helped create my mixed bouquet design aesthetic. I even had a few requests outside of farmers markets and grocery stores for mixed bouquets, they really are something special!
1200 dahlia tubers planted, then dug up as clumps in the fall! This was probably the biggest undertaking….but provided the most beautiful flowers imaginable! I sold my dahlias in mixed bouquets and to local florists, which was a hit! I’ll be adding new varieties in 2025 and planting a few more tubers.
Thousands of stems harvested and hundreds of seedlings planted. Plus a hedgerow went in to help block the wind and provide a spot for woody perennials to grow. Plus, a few hundred bulbs including tulips, daffodils, and lilies. Nothing short of lots of flowers to use in arrangements, sell locally, or to have just for fun. Not to mention a fun professional photo shoot took place among all the hard work of planting and growing these flowers. Definitely a must for 2025, photoshoots to showcase the amazing fields of flowers!
3 florists I freelanced with and 6 florists I sold my flowers to. I honestly expected to sell to 0 florists, and did not even have freelancing on my radar. But I’m glad I was able to connect with some amazing florists to provide beautiful flowers to and work with to grow my design skills. I’ll be expanding this part of my business in 2025 for sure!
